scenic North West Illinois for an overnight trip to sample
some of the area’s wonderful scenery and excellent driving.
Join the convoy from Chicago on Saturday morning, or met us
in the area on Saturday afternoon. An overnight stop in Dubuque will leave everyone well rested to tackle more country roads before the trip back east. |

home) for good conversation and re-fueling on delicious food

VA | Richmond VA | Colonial Trail Cruize 07 | Our Colonial Trail CruiZe 07
will begin on 6 October 2007 at the Wawa at 9 A.M. (drivers
meeting) near the entrance to the Richmond Airport. The Wawa
address is 500 S Airport Dr Sandston, VA 23150. We begin by traveling around the Richmond Airport traveling south across the James River to Hwy 10 (Colonial Trail Highway). We plan on a short stop at the Jamestown Settlement before continuing along the Colonial Parkway to Yorktown. We travel through the Yorktown Battlefield to our home at 412 Yorkville Road Yorktown, VA 23692 for a BBQ. There is no cost to the drive. Everyone pays for their own lunch. We cover the BBQ costs. If you want to bring something, you are welcome too. |

Saturday morning: Meet in the vicinity of Highway 101 and Highway 156 west of San Juan Bautista at 9 AM on the 15th. Head to Salinas and meet the crew from Monterey at the corner of Monterey-Salinas Hwy and River Road. Head south on River Road (and it's various incarnations) enjoying the surrounding vineyards and coastal range. Arrive in King City and lunch at Margies Diner. Depart King City and head to Paso Robles via 101. Check into hotels then meet at one of the areas wineries for some tasting and purchase. Visit several (time permitting) wineries for more vittles and a tour or two. Depart for the Castle. Head to Cambria around 8:30 PM for dinner. Back to the hotels to sleep off dinners. Sunday Morning: Meet at the Hampton Inn at 9:00 AM for departure to the James Dean Crash Site for a photo op. Be sure to eat breakfast before the departure meet-up. We will then get fuel as we leave town. From The James Dean site we will proceed via back roads (198) to Coalinga for lunch at Harris Ranch. Those who do not want to drive to the valley for lunch can head home via 101. From Harris Ranch, we will continue on back roads to the Fresno area and then north to Modesto, Sacramento and beyond. If you plan on joining us for lunch at Harris Ranch, please let me know ASAP so that I can notify Harris Ranch. |

Our host hotel will be the Comfort Suites in New Bern, tel # 252-636-0022. They are saving rooms just for us, so tell them you are with the club. The action will begin on Friday April 25 at 5 pm and end with a visit to the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores and then lunch at the famous Sanitary Fish Market Restaurant in Morehead City on Sunday April.27.
