2008 OBX CruZ for the cure of Parkinson's DiseaseSend photos and text about your events to Email from Rich: 2/28/08 Since my last email our cruz has grown to over 50
cars and couples. They are coming from up state NY, Oh, Illinois, Penn,
Md. Va, Fla. Ga. SC and NC. Tom Skinner, the Country Rover on TV 7 will
be there. And Carroll Leggett who writes for MetroNC will be on cruZ
too. My article in Roundel magazine last year really got the info out. I
have recruited the following corporate sponsors: Sale BMW, Leith BMW and
Performance BMW. But I need a few more to off set some of the expenses.
Suggestions appreciated. Planning is almost complete for the weekend of April 25, 26, & 27. Our host hotel is the Comfort suites in New Bern, NC tel 252 636 0022. They are holding special rooms and rates just for us. The fun begins on Friday at 5pm with a meet and greet on the banks of the Neuse River. A NC style DownEast pig picking will follow at 7pm. A silent auction to raise $ for the Parkinson's Disease Research Foundation at Duke University will be conducted. (http://www.kingsbbq.com/scrapBook.html) Sat morning will come fast. We will tour the Fountain Power Boat factory (like BMWs on the water). Boats rides will be available possible w/ Reggie at the wheel (http://www.fountainpowerboats.com/). Lunch will be at the River Dunes Club, near Oriental, NC (the sailing capital of NC). (http://www.riverdunes.com/) After lunch there will be time for the ladies to shop in the village of Oriental. Dinner will be in New Bern - TBA. Mixer at hotel after dinner. Sunday will come real fast. And it will find us visiting the NC Aquarium in Pine Knolls Shores, our third and final aquarium. (http://www.ncaquariums.com/) But this is the biggest, newest and best one. Lunch will be at the world famous Sanitary Seafood Market & Restaurant (http://www.sanitaryfishmarket.com/index.html). After lunch it will be home bound till next year 2009. There is a $20 per person registration fee to cover the pig on Friday and lunch on Sat. All proceeds will go to Parkinson research at Duke University. For details of prior cruZs see Oct 2007 Roundel article. For registration contact Rich Broughton ; at email cbroughton@ec.rr.com; or tel 252 670 0803 in Morehead City NC
