ZSCCA/CinZroadster Fall Drive
October 20th 2007

Send photos and text about your events to

Each year the Cincinnati Z Roadsters (www.CinZroadsters.com) have a fall Color Drive hosted by Bob Slone (ZTwin on our FORUM). 2007 was no exception and we had a great ZSCCA/CinZroadster Drive. We had 10 cars and most of us completed the 300 mile rally/drive.

1st Stop Gas Station and Convenience Store in Lynchburg, Ohio ready for the second leg of the morning shows the order of arrival (the rally leader was the sweeper).  Of course the M’s were first to arrive (the “spirited style” drivers were staged first off the line.)
Gathered at Moyer's Vineyard & Restaurant, Manchester OH on our fall drive 10/20/07. We had 10 Z's.

Fall Color Rally Tour Wrap-up

Crystal clear skies and warming temperatures greeted the 9 cars at the starting line Saturday morning (October 20) for the '07 Fall Color Tour with a tenth car joining us for lunch and the afternoon leg.  The “rally” approach (where we staged the departures in accordance with driving style preference and where the challenge was to drive the route following the detailed maps without being “led”) was applauded by everyone who participated. It was fun to see how the order changed at the first pit stop (after a few made a wrong turn or went right past the pit-stop before turning around.)  The picture of us lined up in front of the 1st Stop Gas Station and Convenience Store in Lynchburg, Ohio ready for the second leg of the morning shows the order of arrival (the rally leader was the sweeper).  Of course the M’s were first to arrive (the “spirited style” drivers were staged first off the line.)

Photo at Suck Run Road - Click for Larger Image. The morning route took us through southern Ohio (including a stretch of the famous Suck Run Road – with the road sign missing – it keeps getting stolen - yet most made the turn) to Moyer’s Vineyard Restaurant where we enjoyed a leisurely lunch on the deck overlooking the Ohio River.  Chris Cane says that Moyer’s makes the best “hot brown” in Ohio so that was what most of us ordered.   After lunch six cars continued on to the Kentucky leg of our journey where we continued to see wonderful fall color, particularly along the stretch of road from Flemingsburg to Vanceburg, KY.

At our pitstop at the McDonald’s in Vanceburg, several noted the fact that they had never seen a McDonald’s that sold beer!  I wonder what else they sell there??

After 289 miles the afternoon group arrived back at the start point about 5:30 PM (the last pic. shows our afternoon group – Sharon Stone is behind the camera) as we were walking into the Ruby Tuesday’s restaurant across from the McDonalds where we started.  The Canes (who had to head home after lunch to mind their pug doggies) joined us for supper at Ruby Tuesday’s.  What a great day!

Webmasters Note 10/25/07:
I did get an email from Sally and Mike DiMuzio about Bob Slone's drive.

"Hi Chris - we weren't sure where to post this so thought we'd pass along to you. We REALLY enjoyed the "rally" drive last weekend to Moyer's (10/20/07).  It was a beautiful day, but more than that, we were more comfortable with the rally set-up.  We did not feel like we were holding anyone back or pushing anyone along, yet still felt like we were all a group.  The meeting stops were fun and the lunch was great.  Company, as always, was entertaining.  We compliment Bob Slone on the organized and well planned drive.

Mike and Sally"
