In late 2003 Cheryl and I (the WebMeister) bought an X3 at Jake Sweeney BMW. While there I chatted with Todd Glass one of the Service Consultants. He had visited our website and sent me an email regarding costs for the tire/wheel warranty on new and used run-flat tires. See Run-Flats.

I asked him about other tech topics that might interest us roadsters!

I got the following email from him.

"... a few items of note as winter is upon us...do not leave keys in the ignition when car is parked, even for one night. the car will not go into "sleep" mode. the cars rolling code will be ready to start the car & not go into the rest mode."

"... also of note, use a trickle charger ($70) when storing car or not driving for even a few days. batteries are only covered by BMWNA warranty if the car has a failed battery & the car has at least 100 miles for every month in service. example if a 01 car comes in with 2k miles on it & has a dead battery a customer will have to pay for replacement rather than it being under warranty. just a few recent issues we've had with cars."

Here's one link to order a BMW Battery Maintainer See ROADSTER SOLUTIONS This is also available at BAVARIAN AUTOSPORT.
